  • University of Michigan-Ann Arbor AAUP President, Julie Boland, co-authored an opinion piece with Scott Greer in Michigan Advance (November 12, 2025), which called attention to the university’s decision to relocate and limit the display of a quilt that visualized Palestinian activism on campus and cited a recent AAUP and Middle East Studies Association report on the weaponization of civil rights law across colleges and universities.

  • Leila Kawar and Terri Friedline, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor AAUP officers, published an article in Michigan Advance (September 29, 2025) about the growing resistance to oppression on campus, particularly with regard to Palestinian activism.

  • University of Michigan-Ann Arbor AAUP officers, Julie Boland and Leila Kawar, contributed an essay to a recent The Michigan Daily series (September 1, 2025) about the need for a president that is committed to shared governance with faculty. AAUP officers from the University of Michigan-Dearborn chapter, Daniel Birchok and Emily Luxon, also contributed an essay.
